Raunchy Research
I do my darndest to keep the episodes PG-13, but some days are tough.
That said, the script for 161 lead me to some of the funnest research I’ve had to do in a while.
Touching the p-handshape middle finger to the nose tip then bringing it out to “F” (done with one hand) means “piss off”, or, literally, “PENIS F”. This sign creates the meaning of “piss off” by combining the sign for “penis/piss” and abbreviating “O-F-F” by using simply one “F”.
I saw that in the info feed last night and spent a pleasant few minutes trying to learn a few curses for when I’m stuck in traffic and the ol’ middle finger isn’t quite enough.
Nice – Jessica May has been teaching me the ASL alphabet on and off for years. I’m getting decent at it, but I still drop some of the lesser-used letters.
Interesting. I was catching up on my ‘stories’ last night via DVR and this week’s episode on Bones involved a deaf/mute girl. I was trying to remember some of the sign language that I used to know (why I ever learned any of it in the first place is way beyond memory). Now I have a wonderful new gesture for my insult arsenal. I like.
