I consider everything that you and the ladies do very safe and friendly to everyone so it’s a little amazing to me that you’re catching flak for something so benign. You might imagine some of the feedback that we get. I always take the time to write them back and thank them for listening and leave it at that. If they persist in being annoying I have no problem with calling them out on the podcast, but I’ve only done that once. And the e-mails stopped.
Of all the things that E and I say on BT, the one complaint that kinda threw me for a loop was our use of the word Tranny. AND it came from a straight person. I told her that it was common vernacular amongst the members of my tribe and that as long as SHE didn’t use the word, all would be well.
If you put it out there, it sometimes comes back all kinda crazy.
Yeah, I can only imagine the kind of guff you guys get. Unfortunately, writing them back would have meant allowing the comment to become public on the blog, and I’m just not willing to open that door I guess. I’ll throw you a link to the tumblr in question, via our super-secret carrier pigeons.
Hilariously, I don’t think I’d have any trouble throwing a “tranny” or two into a Mulligan story, but I suppose it would depend on the context.
I understand your wanting to fight that nonsense but you can’t win with either logic or facts. The best thing to do is keep doing what you’re doing. The problem with assholes like that is that they want to be assholes like that. The second you try to alter their worldview you are an enemy.
Yeah, I think you nailed it – any sort of argument is just justification for their sense of persecution. Still, it blows my mind that people can stake a claim on such a distant unreality.
What’s a tumbler blog Jrd?
It’s sort of like a standard blog, but it tends to be much smaller – maybe a single image a post, or just a snippet of text.
It’s big with the ADD youts of today. (For example: http://hellyeahtrueblood.tumblr.com/)

Hope things are going smashingly down there.

I don’t mean to be insulting when I say this, but: you can’t argue with crazy.
Yeah, too true.
