Love the lachrymatory website’s admission that they don’t really have any evidence that these things were used to collect tears in antiquity… Fascinating idea though to capture grief in liquid form. Wonder if they ever did it for tears of joy.
I love that there are relatively common historical artifacts that we’re still guessing at the purpose of.
