Hindenburg
I don’t believe I’ve posted this image before, from a New York Times gallery, but I’ve been deriving a lot of inspiration from it in the last while.
I can’t recall where I originally came across it, but there’s a high chance it was somehow via Jim of Relic Radio.
I can’t take credit for finding that one. You did send me a link to it, or one similar, awhile ago though. Love those airship pictures.
I must have thought of you after seeing it: definitely seems like a Jim image.
Seconded regarding airships; that entire gallery is fantastic – it seems odd to think it was the future we nearly had.
GREAT site. When I get time, I need to dig out some pics I took of the Empire State Building when it was an anniversary- 50th I think, of King Kong. They put a Kong sized balloon atop the building hugging the antenna. It was cool to see.
Wow – heck yes, I’d love to see that.
If you scroll about 1/3 down this page to April you’ll see a pic. Mine are taken from dtreet level and are more interesting. I’ll get them when I can, but A- they are somewhat buried and B- my scanner is shot anyway.
No rush, but I’d definitely like to see what it looked like at street level – the clipping below is pretty epic.
Sorry I left out the link. Here’s a different place with the same pic.http://www.flickr.com/photos/themechanism/5023014513/
