The modsnake has always been a bit of a creepy robot – anything that can climb straight up a wall, while sounding like a bag full of baby birds, is bound to be nightmare fuel.
Still, stick it in a pink sack and you’ve gone to a whole new level of “Please, no.”

Instead of Skynet rising up to destroy humanity, it seems more likely to me that robots will start small: Roombas rising up to destroy their arch-nemesis, the cat population; neglected R.O.B.s coming to break children’s thumbs; or maybe those old timey sparking robots going on an arson spree.
Rail guns are one of those science fiction tropes – like hover cars and jet-packs – that have been around for years, and no one really expects to have happen tomorrow.
The thing is, we’re wrong.

That doesn’t explain why there’s a bunch of flame and smoke in this video, but that doesn’t make the idea of catching one of these with your teeth any less terrifying.

Yes, at the risk of being choked to death by the cartoonishly re-animated hand of Saul Bass, I have to admit that I quite like this Vertigo homage:
Somewhere in the still reasoning portion of my brain I fully understand that Ryan Reynolds is in this movie, and therefore the film will open with a lot of shots of Reynolds smiling before he has to start transitioning between his two other facial expressions, soft-eyed surprise and steely-jaw, but still, I want to believe.
I’d also be interested in re-watching Quentin Tarantino’s CSI episodes before viewing this – as in submarine movies, there are only so many things to be done in a buried box story.
Maybe the way to bring about world peace is to actually televise international war games?
